In the late 1940s, Denver F. Gray recognized that the offshore oil and gas industry needed an insurance program that could respond to the overlapping combination of state and federal jurisdictions and its complex contractual arrangements. In 1953, he responded to this by developing a casualty package that combined coverage for General Liability, Automobile Liability, and Workers’ Compensation under one program and founded Gray & Company, Inc.
Gray & Company, Inc. operated as the underwriting manager for various unaffiliated insurance companies for many years and from these underwriting activities, The Gray Insurance Company was launched. In 1977, The Gray Insurance Company was incorporated under the laws of Louisiana and received its certificate of authority from the Louisiana State Department of Insurance.

The Gray Insurance Company offers a funded Self Insured Retention (SIR)/Deductible program that has been designed to provide the insured with an opportunity for maximum savings and protection.
The three-year primary policies provide statutory limits for Workers' Compensation and $1,000,000 for third-party liability. Also available in the program is a $4,000,000 Excess Liability policy that is written on a one-year basis.
Claims Administration - Each insured is assigned a senior adjuster who provides a single point of contact.
